Weer een succesvolle Guerilla Repair workshop! / Another successful Guerrilla Repair workshop!

Op 18 januari hield XR Fashion Action weer een Guerilla Repair workshop. Ditmaal was de plaats delict de IJ-passage op het Amsterdamse centraal station. Temidden van de winkels, die consumentisme verheerlijken, protesteerden we door te laten zien hoe het ook anders kan. De liefde voor ambacht, handwerk en het samen repareren zorgden voor een gezellige sfeer.

Deze workshops zijn nu een maandelijkse actie. Elke rebel (en niet-rebel) kan meedoen. Daarnaast hebben we ook nog 'brei met XR'-sessies. De hoofdgedachte achter deze workshops is, dat we je uitnodigen niet langer mee te doen aan de toxische fast fashion-industrie. Oftewel: #BoycottFashion! Wij organiseren deze workshops om een alternatief te bieden voor kopen. Door je kleding te repareren ontwikkel je een gezondere relatie met je kledingstuk. Het wordt niet langer een wegwerpartikel, maar iets waardevols waar je van houdt en dat je waardeert.

On 18th January, XRFA held our second Guerrilla Repair workshop, this time in Amsterdam's Ij Passage. We had a wonderful experience of protesting the consumerist culture of the shops surrounding us, yet in the comfort of our love for crafting and togetherness.

The workshops are now a monthly action open to all rebels to join, in addition to our Knit with XR crafting sessions. The main reason behind these workshops is, as we are inviting you to #BoycottFashion to avoid contributing further to the toxic fast fashion industry, we want to balance this by offering solutions and helping you develop the skills to mend your own clothes. This is also to nurture a healthier relationship with the garments we own, encouraging us to treat them well and not see them as just dispensable commodities.
