Allereerst een rebels 2021 gewenst! We hopen dat iedereen oké is tijdens deze vreemde tijden. We kunnen niet dansen en raven. We missen het vieren van het leven. We smachten naar gezamenlijke nachten.

De situatie waar we nu in moeten leven, de corona-crisis en haar lockdowns en de klimaatcrisis, is veroorzaakt door een giftig systeem. Een systeem van overproductie, overconsumptie wat leidt tot de uitbuiting van werkers en vernietiging van de natuur. Een systeem wat voortbouwt op eeuwenlang kolonialisme en hiërarchisch denken.

Om dit systeem zichtbaar te maken hebben wij een strijdlied gemaakt en een choreografie bedacht, zodat rebellen overal ter wereld in flashmob formatie hun liefde voor het leven en hun passie voor verandering kunnen uiten.

Fix je outfit en doe deze zondag om 17:00 mee met onze ONLINE Toxic System Rave!! We gaan een uurtje dansen, daarna nemen we een uur de tijd om de choreografie door te nemen en daarna staat een rebelse DJ op het programma.

The situation we now have to live in, the corona crisis and its lockdowns and the climate crisis, has been caused by a toxic system. A system of overproduction and overconsumption leading to the exploitation of workers and the destruction of nature. A system that builds on centuries of colonialism and hierarchical thinking.

To expose this toxic system we have created a battle song and a choreography so that rebels all over the world can express their love for life and their passion for change in flashmob formation.

Stop overconsumptie. End Black Friday!

Waarom moet Black Friday stoppen?
Vrijdag 27 november is een zwarte dag voor de planeet. Terwijl de klimaat- en ecologische crises nog steeds verergeren, gooien wij de natuur én onszelf in de uitverkoop. Extinction Rebellion protesteert. Stop Black Friday! Het massaal produceren van consumptiegoederen en kleding zorgt voor extra CO2-uitstoot, torenhoog waterverbruik in de katoenteelt, en het uitbuiten van fabriekswerkers in lage lonenlanden: moderne slavernij. De impact van de fashion industrie is gigantisch en onnodig. Als we nu stoppen met het produceren van kleding, hebben we genoeg voor twintig jaar.

Samen met XR NL Fashion Action organiseren lokale groepen van Extinction Rebellion op Black Friday, over een week, acties in Almere, Amsterdam, Castricum, Enschede, Eindhoven, Haarlem, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, Utrecht en Wageningen met als belangrijkste eis: End Black Friday.

In Amsterdam:
A.s. vrijdag 27 november is het Black Friday. Onze boodschap? Just don’t buy it. Refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle and rebel. Stop overconsumptie! End Black Friday! We organiseren verschillende acties en evenementen in de binnenstad van Amsterdam.
Het idee is dat kleine groepen rebellen gedurende de dag hun eigen acties zo gedecentraliseerd en coronaproof mogelijk uitvoeren. Heb je nog geen groepje (affiniteitgroepje; AG)? Geen zorgen! Kom op vrijdag vanaf 11:00u naar het Spui en dan kun je je ter plekke aansluiten bij een actie.

Wat je kunt verwachten?
Guerrilla repair en brei-in;
Pop-up workshops om kleding te repareren;
Educatie over het giftige systeem en hoe mode daarmee te maken heeft;
Straattheater;
Dansen door de straten in de TOXIC SYSTEM RAVE;
en nog veel meer.

Hub
Het centrale punt (waarschijnlijk op het Spui) waar je vragen kunnen stellen over de acties, je kunt leren om te naaien en repareren (bijvoorbeeld om een ​​Guerrilla Repair te doen), je flyers en stickers kan ophalen. We hebben nog mensen nodig om deze hub de hele dag door te runnen.

Toxic system rave
We herschreven de songtekst van Toxic van Britney en maakten een eenvoudige danschoreografie (zoals Discobedience tijdens de Septemberrebellie)

Guerrilla-repare
Brei- en guerrillarepare sessies zijn bedoeld om mensen te laten zien dat je geen nieuwe kleding hoeft te kopen. Hiermee biedt XR het winkelend publiek een alternatief aan.

Neem je oude kleding/stoffen mee!

Flyeren / posteren
Je kunt de straat op gaan en naar winkels gaan om flyers uit te delen en met mensen te praten over waarom ze winkelen. De flyers haal je op bij de hub. Ga in gesprek met het publiek. Vraag of ze hebben nagedacht over het giftige systeem dat hun winkelen ondersteunt (we doen dit op een manier om met mensen om te gaan, en hun consumentengewoonten niet beschamen, dus eerdere GC-training zou een pluspunt zijn).
Je kunt ook flyers in kleding stoppen om te verkopen of posters ophangen in kleedhokjes in winkels.

Tot slot
Op de dag zelf kunnen er nog een aantal dingen veranderen qua tijd en locaties. Houd daarom goed onze Facebook, Instagram in de gaten en meld je via een PM aan voor onze broadcast app.

Why does Black Friday have to stop?
Friday the 27th of November is a black day for the planet. While the climate and ecological crises are still worsening, we are putting nature and ourselves on sale. Extinction Rebellion protests. Stop Black Friday! The mass production of consumer goods and clothing causes extra CO2 emissions, high water consumption in cotton cultivation, and the exploitation of factory workers in low-wage countries: modern slavery. The impact of the fashion industry is huge and unnecessary.
If we stop producing clothes now, we will have enough for twenty years.

Together with XR NL Fashion Action, local groups of Extinction Rebellion organize on Black Friday, in a week's time, actions in Almere, Amsterdam, Castricum, Enschede, Eindhoven, Haarlem, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Wageningen with the most important requirement: End Black Friday.

In Amsterdam:

The central point (on the Spui) where you can ask questions about the actions, you can learn to sew and repair (e.g. to do a Guerrilla Repair), you can pick up flyers and stickers. We still need people to run this hub all day long.

Toxic system rave
We rewrote the lyrics of Toxic by Britney and made a simple dance choreography (like Discobedience during the September Rebellion).

Guerrilla repair
Knitting and guerrilla repair sessions are meant to show people that you don't have to buy new clothes. With this, XR offers shoppers an alternative.

Take your old clothes / fabrics with you!

Flyer / Posting
You can take to the streets and go to stores to hand out flyers and talk to people about why they are shopping. You can pick up the flyers at the hub. Talk to the public. Ask if they've thought about the toxic system that supports their shopping (we do this in a way to interact with people, and don't embarrass their consumer habits, so previous GC training would be a plus).
You can also put flyers in clothes to sell or put up posters in locker rooms in stores.

Doe mee aan onze volgende Guerilla Repair-actie bij een Primark bij jou in de buurt of online! De winkels zijn weer geopend, het consumentisme gaat door, maar grote merken weigeren te betalen voor geannuleerde bestellingen, dus moeten wij ze laten weten dat het tijd is om te #betalen.

Hoe doe je mee?

1. Zoek een kledingstuk dat gerepareerd moet worden.
2. Haal wat reparerige vrienden bij elkaar (leuke affiniteits-groepsactiviteit!)
3. Maak borden of een spandoek dat verwijst naar #payup of solidariteit met kledingarbeiders.
4. Ga naar het dichtstbijzijnde winkelcentrum of Primarkfiliaal - maak het jullie comfortabel en stem af op onze livestream.
Neem mee: een set naalden, wat naaigaren en iets comfortabels om op te zitten.

We zullen in Amsterdam zijn in de buurt van de Primark aan de Damstraat, voel je ook welkom daar aan te sluiten!

Join our next Guerilla Repair action at a Primark near you or online! The shops have re-opened, consumerism continues, but big brands are refusing to pay for canceled orders, and we need to let them know it's time to #payup.

How to join:

1. Find a piece of clothing that is in need of repair
2. Get some mendy-ready friends together (great affinity-group activity!)
3. Make signs or a banner that relates to #payup or solidarity with garment workers
4. Go to the nearest shopping mall or Primark - get comfortable and tune in to our livestream.
Please bring: a set of needles, some sewing threads and something comfortable to sit on.
We will be in Amsterdam near the Primark at the Damstraat.

The event will be Livestreamed on the Instagram account of @xrnlfashionaction 📲 Feel free to host a Guerrilla Repair at a location near you. Contact us for the meditation text and a guidebook on how to organise. You can participate anywhere!
